Did you hear about the HCS Girls’ Basketball team bake sale? Girls’ basketball has been hard at work finishing the fundraising for the new team room. The locker room was a beautiful edition for girls’ sports and everyone is so thankful for it. All the proceeds are going to the locker room however the extra will go toward team meals, equipment, and apparel.
The bake sale took place at the Heritage Football game Sept. 20, 2024, against La Salle, which was a big warrior win! The basketball team helped bring all the wonderful treats such as donuts, cookies, muffins, and cupcakes. They also had honey joys’, made by the Australian player on the team Heidi Sprague; she says they are, “sweet tasty Australian treats!” They sold two deserts for $5 and the bigger desserts for $3. Junior, Cadence Painchaud, says, “We did better than expected and this will really benefit our program.”
The team was very grateful for the results, and sophomore, Allyson Nagatsuka says, “We bonded together as a team, and we learned to work together. We not only earned money for our team but we were learning to work as a team!” The team was able to raise over $500, however they aren’t done yet. The girls’ basketball team will be having another bake sale on Oct. 4, 2024, at the Bible Bowl against Village Christian. The varsity girls’ basketball coach Jon says, “Not only did we raise money for our program, but we were able to become closer as a team and serve others. We appreciate everyone who donated and supported our bake sale! Don’t forget to come out to the home game to not only support our football warriors but our girls’ basketball warriors as well.”
