“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Nowadays students and even adults can get caught up in the chaos of school, work, and their everyday lives. People lose focus on what really matters–pursuing Jesus. It is important that in today’s world we focus on keeping God in the center of our lives. There are so many ways we can keep closer relationships with God and build stronger foundations for our faith so that we can live according to His will and His plan for our lives.
In order to build our lives on God’s foundation, we must keep a strong relationship with Him, especially in this world where people are drifting so far from where God wants us to be. Some ways to keep or grow your faith as a high school student are, reading your Bible, praying, or daily devotions.
Creating a routine is very important in staying strong in your faith because you are able to make sure that you are setting a designated schedule to spend time with Jesus. Church is also very important because going to church helps start your week off with Jesus and you can carry what you learned throughout your week. It is super important to attend church because you are able to spend time with people who love the Lord and also allows you to grow in community with other believers. In Galatians 6:2, it says, “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” God calls us to spend time with other believers because then we will be able to build each other up.
“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”
When you grow your relationship with Jesus, your personal relationships with others will also start to deepen. This verse is important because we create close bonds when we build each other up through Christ. This is what God wants for us, to build each other up with His word.
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light,”
For us as high schoolers, it is important to walk in the light of Christ, this not only applies to high schoolers but for anyone. We should reflect the same love that Christ has for us so that we can bring people closer to God and bring God closer to us.
In one of our previous articles, Patrick Carmichael, a former Bible teacher at Heritage Christian said, “Make sure you live every single day to treasure and cherish Jesus above anything this world has to offer and that’s what I would encourage every student to do. That’s what being a Christian is. Being a Christian isn’t just saying, I agree with the facts or I know those facts and I think that those facts are true, it’s giving your life to those realities and saying Jesus is better than anything this world has to offer by far. It is really important to take this verse into consideration and really, truly, live every day to cherish Jesus.”
