Safety & Security
Safety is a process, not a project. Heritage Christian School employs a variety of training and systems to ensure the safety and security of our students, faculty, and staff. Our Safety Committee is made up of representatives of several departments and meets regularly to plan and review drills, review any accidents/unusual incidents to identify corrective actions needed to ensure the safest possible environment for our staff and students, discuss and find solutions for known safety concerns, and has several other functions. This committee’s process serves as our opportunity for growth and improvement. HCS hires and trains armed security, and is seeking to hire additional armed guards, especially those who know advanced first aid techniques.

Drills
At HCS, we perform a variety of drills with and without students. This practice prepares us for situations we hope never come to reality. Employing systems to notify of alerts and emergencies, supported by devices to communicate rapidly, the staff and faculty undergo periodic fire, earthquake, lockdown and Sudden Cardiac Arrest drills. “
Training includes computer-based learning, hands-on teaching, an Emergency Procedure Manual, and the aforementioned drills and evaluation. Armed security is featured as much as possible.
